Lennie Kamwendo is a veteran registered midwife who provides leadership as a board member of WRA Malawi, currently serving as the board secretary. Lennie is a trainer for Malawi’s Maternal Death Surveillance and Response team of Assessors. She teaches midwifery students part-time at Kamuzu College of Nursing.
Lennie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Development in Nursing from the University of Ulster at Colerain and a Master’s Degree in Perinatal Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. Her professional work and experience includes 28 years teaching midwifery at the University of Malawi, Founder of the Association of Malawian Midwives, and an instrumental leader in establishing White Ribbon Alliance in Malawi. She has served on the Board of Directors for the WRA Global Secretariat and as Chairperson of the WRA National Alliance Council.
Lennie is an author and advocate for childbearing women and midwives. For recreation, Lennie spends time watching soap operas, listening to music and dancing.
