As Communication Officer of the WRA Pakistan, Aftab Hamid leads the development and implementation of its advocacy & communications strategy and serves as a spokesperson for the Alliance’s approach and impact. Aftab joined the Alliance in 2015 after spending nearly a decade as a communications leader for development organizations including the British Council.
Aftab has a master’s degree in project management & public health and rich professional experience including standalone and crosscutting communication work. He’s lead and supported on communication & advocacy strategies, the management of key events, creative commissions and content initiatives. He has accordingly developed communication strategies, behavioral change communication strategies, briefs, toolkits, press releases. Aftab has overseen creative design products and print publications, developed digital platforms including websites and information management systems, undertaken event and fieldwork photography, produced documentaries & scripted radio & TV talk shows and managed social media. He has been involved in making research tools, conducting interviews, group discussions and surveys, analyzing data, producing reports, and presenting findings through infographics.
Aftab was drawn to the Alliance because he is passionate about creating positive change in Pakistan’s health systems while contributing to global efforts to improve women and children’s health.
When not at work, Aftab enjoys outdoor & travel adventures, watching movies and making fun videos with his friends and family.
