We are playing our part for reproductive and maternal healthcare by raising awareness on maternal and newborn health by hosting White Ribbon campaigns in Japan.

WRA is a coherent voice for tackling maternal mortality, with a unique ability to raise awareness on how everyone can play their part toward achieving the goal of reducing maternal death, together.

We are playing our part for reproductive and maternal healthcare by raising awareness on maternal and newborn health by hosting White Ribbon campaigns in Japan.

In the name of White Ribbon Alliance, advocates have increased awareness on reproductive and maternal health and rights, changed healthcare policies, and inspired community members to play their part to improve maternal and reproductive healthcare.

In Japan, the White Ribbon Alliance Japan Coalition, headed by the Japanese Organization for International Cooperation in Family Planning (JOICFP), were fundamental to bringing safe motherhood and the “Stories of Mothers Lost” – a storytelling campaign that asked communities around the world to share quilts to help tell the stories of women who died during childbirth – to 2008’s G8 meetings in Tokyo, influencing global decision-makers to prioritize maternal healthcare in their budgets and policies.

JOICFP’s many reproductive and maternal health awareness raising events include an annual White Ribbon Run where advocates from around the world run to promote safe motherhood. The White Ribbon Run’s objective is not only to raise funds for maternal health programs abroad, but also to raise awareness on women’s empowerment and sexual reproductive health and rights in Japan.

JOICFP joined the White Ribbon Alliance movement because WRA is a coherent voice for tackling maternal mortality, with a unique ability to raise awareness on how everyone can play their part toward achieving the goal of reducing maternal death, together.

Thank youJOICFP

for playing your part.
