WRA Indonesia Forms New Youth Chapter in East Java

Dr. Adriansyah Arifin, MPH, initiated the formation of RAPPI (the Youth White Ribbon Alliance Indonesia) East Java province of the White Ribbon Alliance Indonesia (APPI).  On the day of June 17th, 2012 celebration of its initiation was held simultaneously with the Peer Counselor training event at the Health Office of East Java’s city of Surabaya. The two-day training consisted of lessons on drugs, reproductive health for teenagers, and techniques of facilitation and communication. Lessons on effective adolescent and counseling skills were also included.

A total of thirty-four enthusiastic participants, made up of both boys and girls, were quite active as the training proceeded. The unique and effective discussion and role-play training technique led the teenagers in engagement. On the second and final day of training they were inaugurated as RAPPI members.

Participants came from various institutions, namely: HMI (Islam College/University student Association), KOHATI (HMI Women Corps), PMII (Islam Indonesian University Student Association) and also included various university students from within the East Java province. By the end of the two-day training the participants had become comfortable amongst each other, running discussions openly and showing outstanding progress and development.

PEMBENTUKAN RAPPI (REMAJA ALIANSI PITA PUTIH INDONESIA)

PROPINSI JAWA TIMUR

Pembentukan RAPPI Propinsi Jawa Timur yang diprakarsai oleh dr. Andriansyah Arifin, MPH, diadakan sekaligus dengan acara kegiatan Pelatihan Peer Konselor, bertempat di gedung Dinas Kesehatan Propinsi Jawa Timur, di kota Surabaya pada hari Minggu 17 Juni 2012. Pelatihan dilaksanakan selama 2 hari dengan materi di hari pertama yaitu Pengetahuan tentang Kesehatan Reproduksi bagi Remaja, Narkoba serta Komunikasi dan Teknik Fasilitasi, serta hari kedua yaitu Remaja Efektif dan Ketrampilan Konseling.

Peserta Remaja putra dan putri berjumlah 34 orang yang sangat antusias dan aktif mengikuti pelatihan dua hari tersebut, yang mengutamakan metode pelatihan ala remaja dan lebih banyak bersifat diskusi dan role play, pada hari kedua dilantik menjadi anggota RAPPI.

Peserta berasal dari berbagai institusi, yaitu: HMI (Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam), KOHATI (Korp-HMI-wati), PMII (Perkumpulan Mahasiswa Islam Indonesia) dan Mahasiswa-mahasiswi dari berbagai Universitas di Jawa Timur, dalam dua hari pelatihan sangat berbaur satu sama lain dan terlihat kemajuan yang sangat baik serta diskusi-diskusi berjalan sangat terbuka.
