White House Correspondents' Garden Brunch Supports White Ribbon Alliance
April 28th 2012 marked the 19th Annual White House Correspondents' Garden Brunch hosted by the White Ribbon Alliance and CARE’s Mothers Day Every Day Advisor Tammy Haddad alongside Ted Greenberg, Kevin Sheekey, Hilary Rose, Clarke Camper, Mark Ein, Alex Castellanos, Anita Dunn, Bill Knapp, David Adler, Steve McMahon and Franco Nuschese.
The annual event which hosts the biggest names from Hollywood to Washington honored the White Ribbon Alliance and CURE – Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy, providing a tremendous opportunity to raise awareness and support for safe motherhood and epilepsy research.
"White Ribbon Alliance…is another key cause where we're looking at maternal and child health, preventable deaths. Five-hundred thousand women die every year from childbirth. And it's totally preventable, so again the government can do a part, but we need also the private funders to step up. And this is a great way to let people know about the cause, let them know they can contribute," said Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius.

Displayed on the walls inside the Beall-Washington House was a collection of photos and stories from the White Ribbon Alliance’s "Dreams for my Daughter" exhibit that premiered in London on International Women’s Day this past March. The exhibit features photographs by Joanna Vestey and dreams from mothers around the world detailing their hopes for their daughters’ futures.
