More Health Workers, Key to Maternal Health - WRA Action of the Month in The New Times Rwanda
This month, while world leaders gather at the United Nations General Assembly, WRA has called on our members to submit stories and photographs that illustrate progress that is being made to maternal and newborn health, as well as the efforts of advocates to hold governments accountable to commitments that have been made to Every Woman, Every Child.
This posting comes from Gloria Iribagiza of WRA Rwanda. Gloria is a journalist at the New Time’s Rwanda and as chose to feature the WRA Action of the Month in Woman a weekly supplement.
With the title More ''Health Workers, Key to Maternal Health'' Woman features stories from Health Workers in Rwanda working on the frontlines to save the lives of woman and children every day and explains how civil society organizations like the WRA are working to hold the Rwandan government accountable to its commitment to, increase health sector spending to 15% by 20102 and halve maternal mortality and newborn mortality rates by 2015.
WRA Rwanda has been leading a public awareness drive on the need to recruit more midwives and ensure they are finically supported and equipped to do their jobs properly, and ensure that their training is carried out by quality teachers.
