Hinduja College of Nursing Promotes World Breastfeeding Week

Each month, WRA features an Action of the Month as a way to encourage WRA members to take action in support of maternal and newborn health. In August, we partned with World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action and encouraged our members to protect, promote and support breastfeeding.

We would like to share an update from Ms Jennifer Manuel, SNA co advisor of Hinduja College of Nursing, on the activities that Hinduja College of Nursing in support of August's Action of the Month.

On 11th of August, the PD Hinduja College of Nursing celebrated World Breastfeeding Week as part of WRA’s August Action of the Month. This event began with a speech from Principal Madam Jaya Kuruvilla, a poster competition and a scientific paper presentation on the following topics:

  • Breastfeeding vs. Formula feeding in relation to autoimmune disorder
  • Community sensitization for supporting breastfeeding, the ways and means
  • Exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months, creation of a healthy generation
  • I encourage breastfeeding-  turning challenges into opportunities.

 


The afternoon sessions included a welcome of the Guest of Honor, Dr. Suhas Prabhu, the pediatric consultant of Hinduja Hospital.

This welcome was followed by a debate, a skit and the top two award winning papers presented to the guest of honor.
