APPI meets with the President of the Coordinating Committee of Women Parliamentarians, IPU

On February 13, 2012, Aliansi Pita Puthi Indonesia /APPI (WRA Indonesia) met with the President of the Coordinating Committee of Women Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Ibu Dr. Nurhayati A. Assegaf, M.Si, MP at her office at the House of Representatives in Jakarta. APPI was represented by Ibu Dr. Ratna Pertiwi Tjaja, SKM (APPI Vice Chairperson I); Ibu Ir. Dra. Giwo Rubianto, Mpd (APPI Vice Chairperson III) and Ir. Dina Sintadewi (APPI Secretary).

At this meeting, APPI encouraged the Committee of Women Parliamentarians to advocate for safe motherhood at the IPU Assembly to be held in Kampala, Uganda on March 31 to April 5, 2012. This will provide a venue to share the resolution developed during APPI’s collaboration with the Women’s Caucus of Parliament of the Republic of Indonesia (KPP-RI) on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2012. The resolution will be given to and echoed by Dr. Nurhayati A. Assegaf as the President of the Coordinating Committee of Women Parliamentarians.
